New Propane Fire Training Facility

The new state-of-the-art firefighting facility at the Nova Scotia Firefighters School is up! By using propane in this burn facility we are drastically improving the safety of our trainees during firefighting training.

The facility is equipped with multiple emergency stop buttons located throughout and high velocity evacuation fans to clear the burn rooms of heat and combustion products in less than 60 seconds. This new building will allow trainers to supervise the simulation and ensure that all safety risks are minimized.

By switching to LPG burn simulation we are eliminating the chance of diesel particulate, a known carcinogen, from coming in contact with trainees. Also, this will help to drastically lower airborne pollution from fire training.

This project is an investment in safety, environmental responsibility, and positive change.
